About Scholarship: Tamales Express and More is a local family owned restaurant located at the heart of Yakima. Established in 2013, Tamales Express has been committed to providing family style cooking through quality food and great customer service. Throughout our years of operation, we have crossed paths with many customers that hold unique identities that reflect the true spirit of Yakima. Through these encounters, one of the common stories we resonate the most with is listening to parents speak of their children’s hopeful future after high school. We believe in the power of education and the importance of reinvesting in people and students that will build the future of our community. Through this scholarship we hope to encourage students to achieve a post secondary education and utilize what they learn to one day help grow the community they were raised in. Tamales Express and More Scholarship will be awarding eligible high school seniors pursuing a four-year university or a technical school.
Scholarship Amount: $500.00

Three essay questions answered each in 350 words or less
Unofficial transcript
Eligibility Requirements
Be a high school senior attending one of the Yakima Valley public schools: Seniors must be on track to graduate Spring of 2021.
Must currently hold a cumulative GPA of 3.3 (4.0 scale) or above. Must provide unofficial transcript
Will enroll full time at a four-year university or technical school in fall 2021
Be a first-generation college student: student whose parent(s) did not complete a bachelor’s degree
Must have filed a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or Washington Application for State Financial Aid (WASFA)
